City Guides is a non-profit organization of volunteers who share their love of the City with its history, lore and legends by leading over 90 free walking tours of San Francisco. In fact, we're so enthusiastic about the tours, we've signed up for classes that begin in February to become Guides ourselves. We've taken quite a few already, and plan to take most of them before our year is up. http://www.sfcityguides.org/
On a tour of Nob Hill that ended at the Mark Hopkins Hotel, we learned that during World War II it was tradition that service men and women would go the the Top of The Mark for a martini before deployment and upon return from the war. Not having been there for many years, we decided to imbibe ourselves. Mind you, Bill can't say FREE THROW properly without a drink, but a couple sips of a martini made it quite funny.
